A total of 44.000 Murcianos practice 104 different sports and activities in municipal facilities


The Councillorship of Sports invests 1,7 million Euros to offer the best service to the citizens

 A total of 44.000 Murcianos practice 104 different sports and activities in municipal facilities. The offer during the course 2010-2011 is 17.453 memberships, of which 12.332 are for practicing swimming and the rest (5.121) for indoor activities like body gym, aerobics and body maintenance among others. In addition to this offer it is necessary to add 8.000 Inacua's memberships, 6.000 memberships at the sports complex of Cabezo de Torres, 10.000 memberships of the CD La Flota, 4.000 memberships of the complex JC1 and around 4.000 of the new sports center Verdolay (Santo Ángel-La Alberca), which will open its doors next month.

The course will begin on September 1st and will go until June 30th, 2011. The bookings of memberships will begin from June 28th, by calling to the telephone 902444905 or through the website www.murciadeportes.com. The municipal sport offers a wide range of activities for all the groups, from babies, from 6 months, up to the most elderly citizens.

Likewise, there are activities designed especially for families like swimming and tennis. The next course will keep freely the activity of Thai Chi, which goes from Monday until Friday in the facilities of the swimming pool at Murcia Park, and on Saturdays and Sundays in Santo Domingo.

On the other hand, citizens from 16 years old who want to combine the practice of aerobics, swimming, body gym and body maintenance, with freedom of timetable, will be able to do it with “abonado+deporte” ( season ticket holder + sport), that has 400 memberships and it is carried out through the facilities located in Infante ‘s swimming pool, Mar Menor’s swimming pool, Puente Tocinos’ swimming pool, El Palmar’s swimming pool, Palace of Sports and the Prince of Asturias pavilion. The Councillorship of Sports, which Michael Cascales directs, invests 1,7 million Euros in the presentation and maintenance of these activities.
